Happy Birthday Blooms

I have a friend (waving at you, Rob) who comes around once a week and we have a card making day. I often go through some of my saved sketches and find them to be the easiest way to make a card. Don't have to think too hard!!!

The following card was from an old sketch challenge of Makeesha's and I completely cased this card from the one on her examples (Makeesha's card can be found here). I changed the colours a little (which is completely out of my comfort zone!).

I will go through what I have used (hope I can remember!). I have used all Stampin' Up! supplies except for the ribbon (not sure where that came from). The base card is Purely Pomegranate and the next layer is Basic Gray stamped with the leaf image from Botanical Blooms. I then layered a piece of Kraft (also stamped with leaf image) onto another piece of Purely Pomegranate.

I then two-step stamped the flowers on the main image onto Whisper White cardstock with Rose Red and then Purely Pomegranate. The leaves are stamped in Certainly Celery and then again with Bordering Blue.

Makeesha's Inkspiration Sketch Challenge #6

This is my very first sketch challenge that I have entered using Makeesha's Sketch. Here is the sketch:-
I agonised for ages over the colours and what stamps to use and in the end settled for this:-

I decided to go with the Wild About You set after having a play with it at a recent workshop. My colour scheme was Taken With Teal, River Rock and Whisper White. The lion was stamped in Close to Cocoa twice and then again in River Rock and I cut out his mane. You can't see too well from the photo but I have mounted his head. I also used the lovely DSP Petals & Paisleys. A nice piece of chocolate ribbon was used and some brass brads to finish it off.

Lovely Flowers

The other weekend when I was having my play I made this first card from a sketch challenge but for the life of me can't remember where it came from. I had it saved on my computer some time ago but don't know where it came from, oops!

I made the next card for the wonderful Karen who has helped me so much with my blog and for being such a brilliant demonstrator. A big thank you goes out to her!!

The following Stampin' Up! supplies were used:-

Lovely Botanical Blooms

I had a very productive day on Saturday and ended up making four cards!! I had planned to make a birthday card for a special person (will post later) and after seeing all the mess on my table I thought I might as well leave it there and have a bit more of a play. My DH was out all day with my eldest son and my daughter was at a friend's house so there was only my other two boys at home which was kind of peaceful.

Here are two of the cards that I had made using the Botanical Blooms set:-

This card is a completely CASEd from the very talented Alana.

Thank You Cards

I was asked by my lovely friend and neighbour, Jane, to make some Thank You cards for her. Jane selected the beautiful papers from the Dashing series and here are the end products:-

Most of the cardstock was from Stampin' Up! but others were from bits and pieces of my stash. You can't see too well but the the Thank You circles are all embossed with a copper embossing powder.

Engagement Card

I made an Engagement card last year for dear friends of ours and ran out of time to photograph it. While at their place a couple of weeks ago I noticed the card on display and cheekily asked if I could photograph it. So here it is:-

This card was made in the very early days of me being introduced into Stampin' Up! so am not 100% sure what cardstock (if any) I had used. The base of the card is a brown cardstock followed by a layer of some sort of teal. I used the Priceless wheel in Close to Cocoa on a vanilla cardstock. I then stamped, cut out and embossed two hearts in copper. It is a bit hard to see in this photo but both of the hearts are embossed just one has come up a bit shiny. I also used the slit punch to make my scalloped edge on the bottom. The ribbon is a beautiful organza which I attached with three small brads on the left hand side.

Stamps: Priceless wheel; Family Phrases

Inks: Close to Cocoa

Polka Dot Fun

It has been a little while since I updated but as promised in my earlier post I did have another card to add.

This one was made using the beautiful Polka Dot Punches set, which I am loving at the moment. I made this card with similar colours as previously used going for the eggplant and gable green. These colours really do come up quite a treat, although it is quite hard to get an accurate photograph.

The following Stampin' Up! supplies were used:-

Cardstock: Elegant Eggplant, Gable Green, Whisper White

Inks: Elegant Eggplant, Green Galore

Stamps: Polka Dot Punches, Short & Sweet

Loving Pick a Petal

I received my Pick a Petal set last week and got a chance to have a play on the weekend. I really love this set and love the many looks you can get. I took some of my stamping stash out to a friend's place on Friday night and so with limited supplies the following two cards were made.

The first card is one that Emily made and I ended up CASEing hers!! She has some really lovely ideas.

Emily has used the following Stampin' Up! supplies to make this card:-

Cardstock: Bordering Blue; Ballet Blue; Whisper White

Stamps: Pick a Petal; It's Your Birthday

Inks: Tempting Turquoise; Bordering Blue

Punch: Spiral

Here is the card that I made using Emily's design:-

All Stampin' Up Supplies:-

Cardstock: Gable Green; Elegant Eggplant; Whisper White

Stamps: Pick a Petal; It's Your Birthday

Inks: Green Galore; Elegant Eggplant

Punch: Spiral

These colours worked really well together and I was pleasantly surprised with the end product so much so that I ended up using the same colours again for another card (but that's another post!!)

While we are on the Pick a Petal bandwagon, here is another card that Emily had made for her friend, Sarah's birthday on the weekend. She enjoyed a lovely girlie sleepover, pool party and mocktails (too young for cocktails!!). Here is Sarah's card:-

It's a little hard to see the true colours properly as we rushed to take the photo before Emily gave it to Sarah. She used the following Stampin' Up! supplies:-

Cardstock: Bravo Burgundy; Elegant Eggplant; Whisper White

Stamps: Pick a Petal; It's Your Birthday

Inks: Purely Pomegranate; Elegant Eggplant

Punch: Spiral
